Software Engineer (#7047)

Roles and Responsibilities:

Design and develop architectural and functional improvements to an enterprise workflow / business process management product.

Required:

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience working with and developing code in Windows, UNIX, and/or Linux operating systems.
  • Strong working knowledge/experience in Java based web application development with Web 2.0 technologies, including AJAX, dynamic HTML, and more.
  • Strong working knowledge of administration and/or developing products on web application servers, such as Oracle WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, Apache Tomcat.
  • Experience with development tools such as Subversion, Eclipse or JBuilder, Bugzilla, wikis and blogs.
  • Strong background with open source Java-based products such as Cruise Control, JUnit, Apache, etc.
  • Knowledge of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA).
  • Working experience with XML, XPath, SOAP, WSDL, Web Services, AXIS, and other related technologies.
  • Ability to translate user requirements into technical design using MS Office tools or design tools.
  • Ability to work in diverse, fast-paced team environment including an integrated team of staff and contractors, including ability to take direction from other contractors on some tasks and ability to juggle competing priorities.
  • Excellent ability to troubleshoot by various methods inclusive of reading system logs.
  • Ability to work outside of prime time business hours to support emergency business issues and routine system deployments.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent oral and written communication skills to work effectively with senior customers internally and externally.
  • Willingness to carry a Pager Duty and work On Call for periods of time.
  • Strong working knowledge with sequel query language (SQL), database programming languages for Oracle 9i or later, and MSSQL 2000 or later.
  • Experience providing development support to enterprise class applications with multiple system interfaces.
  • Must be self-starter on small team, capable of working independently.

Desired:

  • Prior experience with workflow systems, business process management, rule engines, document management system, complex event processing, data visualization.
  • Prior experience in high performance relational database design.
  • Prior experience in developing web based user interfaces for web application or services for enterprise customers.
  • Prior experience in UX and UX based interface design.
  • Prior experience in the full commercial software development lifecycle.
  • Prior experience in any one of the following project management methodologies: RUP or one of agile/test driven methods.
  • Sounding understanding of UML, IEM, IDEF, or a design methodology.
  • Prior experience serving as a technical lead responsible for interfacing with customers and others involved in software engineering, including testers, system integrators, database administrators, help desk personnel, etc.
  • Professional Java certification as developer or programmer or equivalent certifications and/or experience with C++ or C#.
  • Experience working with XML, XSLT, HTML to represent customer information objects, including transforms and cascading style sheets.

Required Education:

4-6 years w/BS, 2-4 years w/MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or experience that would provide equivalent knowledge.
