“HHS evaluated a number of both homegrown systems and Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) options and ultimately decided to utilize the HandySoft BizFlow®-based platform that was serving NIH well in their WiTS application. Applying BPM was estimated to be 47% less costly than modifying the legacy HR management systems and could be implemented a year sooner…We believe that having the capability to track and report upon HR actions through their entire lifecycle, within the framework of a single Department-wide system is unprecedented.”
Director of the Personnel Accountability and Systems Division, Office of Human Resources (OHR), Department of Health and Human Services
By using BizFlow, the Ministry of Labor created the Process-based Knowledge Management System (PKMS) to automate 34 different processes in the fields of industrial safety and health as well as labor supervision standards. With PKMS, the Ministry:
- Cut personnel costs annually $6.75 million in safety, health and labor supervision.
- Reduced annual operational costs of $3.7 million.
- Reduced management oversight of safety, health, and labor cases by 30% from 30 days to 21 days.
- Decreased the time required for educating new/transferred employees from one year to six months.
