What is BizFlow®?
HandySoft and Plexus Scientific Awarded Tasking System by Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
Office of Infrastructure Protection streamlines Planning, Programming, Budgeting, Execution (PPBE) processes compliant with the Government Performance Results Act (BPRA), OMG, and Congressional requirements.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Infrastructure Protection (OIP) awarded HandySoft, the leading global provider of dynamic Business Process Management (BPM) and Tasking software and solutions, and Plexus Scientific, an employee-owned consulting and solutions firm, a contract to deploy a Tasking, Correspondence and Administrative Requirements Management.
Says Rich LePage, Chief of Resource Management and Planning at OIP, “we face the daily challenge of managing a large volume of correspondence that includes critical requests for information from Congress, state and local governments, and vital international partners. Often interconnected with associated projects, this correspondence currently requires a disproportional share of valuable manpower, time, and resources. The current system, based on paper files and emails, is wholly dependent on the availability of the Action Officers. That challenge becomes exponentially more difficult in the absence of a single key person, creating delays or resource expenditures to locate, recreate, or replicate essential documents. These requests, taskers, and memos are the tip of an administrative iceberg that requires a single, effective automated system to receive, evaluate, delegate, track, consolidate, forward and archive while maintaining the ability to perform in-progress review and modifications to both the requirement and the process.”
Says Mike McCrory, CTO of Plexus Scientific, “Taskers require department heads to find, filter, and approve information through their chain of command. As taskers are inherently dynamic, DHS OPI required a correspondence and tracking system that could provide complete visibility into and control over tasks, yet remain flexible and adaptable to disparate user roles and responsibilities within planning, programming and budgeting programs. In addition, it had to be easy to learn and take full advantage of the existing communications infrastructure, including Microsoft Outlook. We knew that HandySoft’s BizFlow® was a perfect fit. Together with our Visual Performance Suite for strategic planning and performance management, we will deliver a ready-to-use tasking solution for OIP.”
Plexus Scientific Corporation and HandySoft Global Corporation have partnered to provide a single, comprehensive software and training solution to empower OIP to address its correspondence and tasking management challenges. BizFlow® is designed to capture correspondence-related requirements, evaluate and assign tasks in part or in whole to appropriate responsible officers, determine status during completion, review draft and final products, and provide an accurate and accessible archive of past and ongoing actions. Plexus is already vested in DHS, with more than four years of support to the agency. This Plexus/HandySoft solution offers the OIP a low-risk, low-footprint, proven solution that can be linked to work in concert with the functionality of Microsoft Outlook email protocols and VPS, which is already deployed in support of OIP.
Says Mike Carucci, Vice President of Business Development at HandySoft Global Corp., “We’re excited to be working with Plexus to provide DHS process-driven solutions. Our focus has been to work with partners to design and develop solutions that are flexible, scalable, and easy-to-use. This work with DHS reaffirms that BizFlow® is a great platform for streamlining business processes in the Federal Government.”
