What is BizFlow®?
BizFlow® OfficeEngine™ – Dynamic BPM for Unstructured Process Execution
TWO FUNDAMENTAL TYPES OF PROCESSES
Structured (“Check the Box”) – You can define and model all workflow activities and their associated rules before process execution. Process participants essentially check the box to review/approve/complete work assignments. Examples include: Accounts Payables, Procurement, Lending, Claims, T&E and Customer Enrollment.
Unstructured (“Dynamic”) – You know where the process starts and ends, but the steps in between depend largely on who is asking and what is being asked. Process participants are largely Knowledge Workers who need flexibility to analyze/collaborate to get work done. Process scenarios include: Budgeting, Policy Development, Correspondence Management, Action Tracking and Project Management.
Most work falls somewhere between these two extremes, many times requiring the ability to utilize unstructured or dynamic tasking to complete a structured workflow.
The BPM marketplace is populated with products that provide customers proven capabilities for process modeling, simulation, execution and optimization structured business processes (see examples).
However, all of these tools fall short with helping you to quickly create applications that execute dynamic processes with the value of both structured and unstructured tasking and workflow.
BIZFLOW® OFFICEENGINE™ DELIVERS DYNAMIC BPM
BizFlow® OfficeEngine makes BizFlow is the first and only BPM Suite to enable fast process execution for structured and unstructured business processes.
With BizFlow OfficeEngine you can use BizFlow to take two approaches to process execution:
- Traditional Approach: Discover (Requirements) → Define (Model, Rules) → Execute (Deploy) → Optimize (Analyze, Improve)
- Dynamic Approach: Execute (Deploy Dynamically) → Evolve (Analyze, Improve) → Add Structure (Model) → Execute (Deploy in Structured/Dynamic Process Definition)
The dynamic approach is more like email – lacking an existing structure beyond knowing key participants and essential roles but having the ability to assign work and adapt based upon the needs of the task. However, unlike email, BizFlow OfficeEngine offers the value proposition of a structured BPM solution: visibility, control and accountability.
With BizFlow® OfficeEngine™ you can:
- Start Dynamic Business Process Applications right away without prior design or modeling
- Give users freedom to determine who does what, when and how
- Allow ‘Knowledge Workers’ to take control of their workflow scenarios without any involvement from IT
- Incorporate Microsoft Outlook to kick-off workflows directly from email
See case studies:

- Nuclear Regulatory Commission – Electronic Document and Action Tracking System

If the unstructured nature of your business process undermines quick/efficient modeling, then use BizFlow OfficeEngine. OfficeEngine comes with BizFlow.
